Arjun Ajith Mohan

Development Scientist

Arjun completed his PhD in 2021 from NIT Calicut in Kerala, India. His PhD research was based on the development of enzyme fuel cells based on nanostructures of carbon for low power applications.

Following this Arjun worked as a contractual reviewer at Cactus Communications where he reviewed manuscripts from university clients around the world.

Arjun’s first postdoctoral research assignment was at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, USA. As part of this assignment, he was involved in the development of microneedle-based sensors for detecting small molecules like cortisol from interstitial fluid using aptamers. This project was a collaboration between Airforce Research Laboratory, USA and GE Healthcare, USA. Arjun also was involved in the development of electrochemical redox amplification techniques using interdigitated electrodes for the detection of proteins (use case shown for the detection of COVID spike protein and validated on an optical platform).

Arjun then moved to his second assignment was in the UK as an MRC-AMED research fellow, which was carried in Swansea University and the University of Liverpool in the Sharma Research group. As part of this role, he was involved in the development of molecularly imprinted polymer-based sensors, which detected biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease in undiluted samples like serum and plasma.

At iGii, Arjun supports the research and development of assay chemistry and electrochemical biosensors based on the Gii platform.
