Dr. Joanne Holmes

Dr. Joanne Holmes brings over 20 years of expertise in both industry and academia, specializing in electrochemistry and the development of medical technologies.

After earning her PhD in Electrochemistry from Cranfield University, Dr. Holmes took on a Postdoctoral role, progressing to Senior Postdoctoral Researcher. During this time, she played a pivotal role in the development of an Integrated Biosensor System for label-free in-vitro DNA and protein diagnostics, as part of an EU-funded project.

In 2014, Joanne joined Metrohm UK as an Electrochemistry Technical Sales Specialist, eventually advancing to the position of Business Manager for Electrochemistry. There, she was instrumental in growing the electrochemistry division, managing and supporting numerous academic and industrial accounts across the UK and Ireland, covering a wide range of electrochemical applications.

In May 2024, Joanne transitioned to iGii as Sales Manager, focusing on the potential of Gii-Sens to transform point-of-care diagnostics. Her work aims to facilitate earlier disease diagnosis and ease the burden on the healthcare sector. Leveraging her extensive experience in electrochemistry, Joanne also recognizes Gii-Sens’ potential applications in veterinary care, environmental monitoring, and food safety. Looking ahead, she is exploring future projects related to pressure sensors, heating elements, energy solutions, and catalysis.
